One of the key initial inspirations for Adly’s unique painting style was the Japanese super-flat concept of drawing, a postmodernist movement based on the widely popular Manga and Anime art forms in Japanese pop culture.

Born in 1989 in Cairo, Kinda Adly is a self-taught artist currently residing and working in Switzerland. After completing her higher education in finance with a brief career in marketing, it was Kinda’s persistent passion for art that caused her to fully embrace painting as a new career path. Adly’s artistic process involves a protracted preparative process into exploring a variety of artistic techniques which she then adapts to her dynamic personal vision in her work.

One of the key initial inspirations for Adly’s unique painting style was the Japanese super-flat concept of drawing, a postmodernist movement based on the widely popular Manga and Anime art forms in Japanese pop culture. Adly combines these elements with variegated pop culture references which she draws from the many locations across the globe that she has been inspired by (including but not limited to America, Britain and of course her native Egypt). Adly’s art is beloved for the layering technique she employs, which combines and contrasts bright and effervescent colors using multiple mediums.

With a vibrant and eclectic palette, replete with pop art elements, caricatures and motifs, Adly combines these features with abstract backgrounds to create dynamic explorations and portrayals of the complex interdependencies of cosmopolitan life, which animate the urban metropolises that influence her work. Kinda Adly joined the Safarkhan family of artists in 2019 and has participated internationally in exhibitions in Zurich and Athens.
