Inji Efflatoun (1924-1989): The Toiler's PaintbrushSherwet Shafei features valuably in a recently produced documentary biopic on the life of Egypt’s foremost artist-activist Inji Efflatoun (1924-1989). The film premiered on Al Jazeera Documentary channel and aired throughout March, before becoming available on Youtube.
This is in conjunction with Safarkhan's commemorative centennial collection for the great pioneer which opens on her birthday a century to the day, this will be the first of its kind at Safarkhan, and more than an exhibition it will constitute a comprehensive biographical exposé as we pay homage to Efflatoun’s life and works in the only manner befitting of her enduring legacy.Remembering Inji

This Season at Safarkhan...
2026-2027This season at Safarkhan promises to be another eventful and exciting one as we bring to you the exploits of both fresh and established talents across Modernist and contemporary genres of Egyptian art in a way that nowhere else can. Typically, our season begins around late September or early October, and ends in May, with solo and group exhibitions running for approximately three weeks, before we enter the summer months with a staple collective show featuring the highlights of the past year.Throughout the year we are also constantly engaged in various collaborative events and projects with leading institutions and organisations, for commercial, cultural and philanthropic endeavours.
